Program Overview

The current era is driven by Computer Engineering and Data driven solutions for the various societal issues. The field of Computer Science has caused digitization of each and every aspect in society, which in turn has resulted in a tremendous increase in digital data around the world. Today’s decision makers not only grapple with huge data but also have to ensure that the data is secure and used efficiently for business decisions. The need of the hour is to develop widely skilled data and computer scientists alongside managerial skills with a global perspective.

This program aims to develop skilled professionals with a blend of computer science and Engineering, Data science and business skills.

Unique features of the Program

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The Program Educational Objectives of the Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science (Data Science) program are:

1. Technical Growth – Graduates will be successful in applying modern computer science practice in data science, cyber security management as per Business needs in the international market.

2. Professional Skills – Graduates will continue to acquire and demonstrate the professional skills necessary to be competent employees, assume leadership roles, and enjoy career success and satisfaction.

3. Professional Attitude and Citizenship – Graduates will become productive citizens demonstrating high ethical and professional standards, make sound engineering or managerial decisions, and have enthusiasm for the profession and professional growth.

Program Outcomes (PO)

After Successful completion of the program students will be able to…

  1. Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  2. Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  3. Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  4. Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  5. Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  6. Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  7. Understand the impact of the professional Computer engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate the knowledge of and need for sustainable development.
  8. Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the Computer Science and engineering practices.
  9. Function effectively as an individual, and as member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings
  10. Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large.
  11. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the computer engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
  12. Recognize the need for and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
Student Outcomes (SOs)

Graduates of the BTech Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) program will have an ability to:

SO-1 Identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics

SO-2 Apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors

SO-3 Communicate effectively with a range of audiences

SO-4 Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts

SO-5 Function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives

SO-6 Develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyse and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.

SO-7 Acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
