TED, is an organization that promotes "ideas worth sharing," lend its name and support to TEDx Events, a series of conferences on urban futures held in several cities and organizations around the world. The conferences, part of a TEDx series ("TED" to signify the format; with "x" standing for "independently organized events"), were locally run and organized without the direct inputs from TED.
TEDxNMIMSShirpur started with a theme ‘Make a Difference in & out’. It took place at NMIMS Mukesh Patel Technology Park Shirpur; the audience included students, and Faculty members. They came to take in talks by eleven speakers, covering topics ranging from urban Development, Health Care, secure yourself during a hostage situation.
One month of assiduous preparations finally culminated into a grand show on the 5th of March 2017. It started with a lot of work but at the end got converted into an enthusiastic, Idea Sharing and an enjoyable event.
The day started early, with the assembling of all the volunteers at 8:00 am in the premises. The arrangements, including decorations and technical checks were done with maximum care, with the speakers and the attendees arriving at 9:30 am. The attendees were registered on the desk and we're given their event kits. The speakers of the first session were Mr. Raul Villamarin Rodriguez, Dr. Bharat Rawat, Mr. Sankalp Kholi, Mr. Samrudh Dixit, Mr. Satish Mandora and Mr. Mohsin Memon.
The second half started with a band performance and continued with talks by Mr. Kiku Sharda, Mr. Sreerama Chandra, Mr. Tanay Malhara, Mr. Shreyas Dhulia and Mr. Suresh Khanapurkar. It also included a rap by Puru Joshi (college student). The speakers were felicitated with a doodle made by Raghav Phophalia and Sonali Kannaujia at the end of their respected talks.
The event was hosted by Chinmay Vyas and Anjali Dabkara (members of the organizing committee). TEDxNMIMSShirpur was a great success as a large number of students had turned up for the event, despite the fact being that it was held on a Sunday. Post-event large number of students said that this was the best event till date in the college and one of the speakers also said that it was one of the best TED event. The event was homered as one of the best TEDx experience by Sankalp Kohli, Raul Villamarin Rodriguez on their respected blog and Facebook page.
