In this program, the 9th trimester in the 3rd year is earmarked for Industrial Training and a minor project. The objective of this training is to familiarise the students with the overall working of the industrial organisation in their respective area of specialization and also to undertake a project. This training is scheduled to commence in January and complete in March for a minimum period of 3 months. However, the training may be continued upto May (i.e. for a period of 5 months) based on the requirement of the industry and concerned student.
As per the curriculum of the B.Tech. program, all students are advised to undergo Industrial training of 6-8 weeks. Such a requirement in the course structure was amended for the purpose of inculcating real world industrial environment habits and scenarios. The training was scheduled after the summer vacation of either the 2nd year or the 3rd year. There were some students who pursued Summer Training in both these vacations too.
The B.Tech. first batch students will pass out at the end of the 12th Trimester (May 2011) and by this time, they would be well equipped to handle the technical challenges facing the industry. They will be placed in industries in their respective or allied sectors (IT, Telecom, Manufacturing & Chemical Sectors). Out of these, 111 students are placed: in Accenture 101 and in HCL 10.
Other reputed companies in pipeline for placements this year are TechMahindra, Infosys, Patni Computers, Hexaware.
